As a entertainer people expect you to always be on,always be a performer on and off stage, I remember as a young man my fiancee and I would be in the grocery store and people would ask me to throw my voice and even tell jokes that they have wrote themselves. Before I became a ventriloquist I was just a normal kid with a imagination that loved to write,I was a private child that his mother kept on a short leash, when I started doing shows with sammy,I became a kid with super powers, sort of, my mind eye was open and I was not a normal kid anymore.being a entertainer was wonderful and not so wonderful, especially for a private child that like to run and play. As a entertainer I made a lot of money and met a lot of famous people and also travel many places. As a entertainer I was always on the go and always business business business and missed home cooked meals but I do want to say my first job ever in my life was as a ventriloquist/entertainer so when I did finally get a "REAL JOB" in the "REAL WORLD" I couldn't stop vomiting. As you get older in life responsibility start such as college, bills, financial, loans, student loan, fiancee list of demands, etc.the peter pan syndrome has come to an end,.being a entertainer has it's ups and downs and I had JUGGLE the ups and downs to keep my dreams alive....
(ADULT ENTERTAINER)
in middle school my bff Marcel and I was hired by a night club owner up in age to clean up the trash and broken bottles glass from the night before in his night club parking lot..at night I would stand at the doorway watching the performers on stage, singers, real raunchy comedians, musicians and bands, seeing the entertainers names on the night club showcase billboard during the day I would talk to Marcel as we cleaned the night club parking lot about wishing to see vann duke and Sammy name on the night club billboard...the owner of the night club let me and Sammy do our ventriloquist act during happy hour, it was wonderful!, being in middle school doing a ventriloquist act during happy hour in a real night club,on a real night club stage, give me my first taste of the world of entertainment..durIng the day while cleaning the parking lot I would read the night club billboard to see who would be performing on stage, then go watch the show from the front door entrance, you had to be age twentyone or older to enter the night club and I was only age thirteen years old, big names like Bobby blue bland performed many times at that night club..skillet and Leroy performed at that night club..I watched and study at the same time the night club entertainers that was performing at that night club, the way they dress, the way they talk, how to walk on a night club stage,etc...
because running home at night after the night club closed was a dream come true,I felt like I was there on stage, lights! live band musicians jamming and grooving!, the audience enjoying the night of entertainment, I would run home jump in my bed at age thirteen at two o'clock in the morning feeling like a real adult entertainer,I would fall asleep dreaming of one day happy hour becoming me and Sammy name on that night club billboard..I wanted to be a night club entertainer, not a comedy club entertainer, and
not a party entertainer, not a children entertainer
just a night club entertainer and I got a chance to live that dream as a teenager, traveling and being a show opener for a musician band with a entertainment company manager.if it's anything I really truly missed about my youth is being a adult entertainer, just traveling was so new, and so exciting and so fresh, and so wonderful different places and different faces............as a
teenager California was a big place and vann duke and Sammy entertained live audiences all over California.............I am an adult entertainer today and I think I would always be, asking why?, because I once did children shows, even though I made a lot of money doing children shows,I felt very unease and even Sammy felt unease ,meaning Sammy is a rebel and love to act a fool and I enjoy stepping back into Sammy shadow giving him the spotlight..doing children shows you need to be very careful what you do and say on and off stage...my second favorite ventriloquist is Otto and George because they would just be clowning and acting a fool on stage and when I seen Otto and George doing a children show on video,I study and research the subject of adult entertainers becoming children entertainer...and wrote notes to self,I keep my opinion to myself on that study.............the most wonderful thing about being a adult entertainer is that the audiences and the performers are looking for the same thing and that same thing a momentarily escape from reality.

('It's SHOW TIME')
one day I was working at a real job in the real world when a man said to me you were pretty good ventriloquist but you missed your calling, I can hear the spirits giggle at that man statement..one day a female politician was signing autographs at a interview on television when she was being heckled by a man, her words stuck with me for many years, she said "look at me then look at yourself, I am over here and where are you, over there"..so to the man in the real world at the real job that said I missed my calling, you can't miss something if it never left.... some people just want to see you down, even your own family members, so remember this, if you are doing your ventriloquist show business career it's show time! why? because people are watching your every move.
ventriloquist Edgar Bergen was not invited to parties unless Charlie McCarthy was invited in the beginning of his ventriloquist career, then after he became famous, the invites came with or without Charlie McCarthy, you will see ventriloquist Edgar Bergen in many photos at parties and event celebrations with out Charlie McCarthy.

('ENTERTAINING THE IN LAWS- the backyard boogie')
my high school sweetheart father would have family cook outs and a few times he invited Vann duke and Sammy to his "BAR B Q" parties in his backyard..at the party full of cousin's, brothers, sisters, uncle's,aunts of my high school sweetheart..my father in law favorite recipe was called moo-lush soul food, many many family members about fifty people gathered in a circle to watch Sammy act a fool! the smell of beer and weed fill the air as vann duke and Sammy entertain the in-laws that lived on the other side of the tracks.
