YEAH! the tittle is catching isn't it, that's part of being a writer and by experience you'll learn that words are powerful.when I was performing in comedy clubs I would DREAM of writing words coming out of famous comedians mouths, but my mind just could not reach that level of wit.I would just marvel at a comedian on stage doing a funny comedy routine and killing it.I remember a female comedian performing at a famous comedy club, she wrote her own material based on her first date, her first date night, let me clarify, when she meet a new man the first "date" is...LIVE ON STAGE in front of a live fucking audience! she would RIP these guys apart! with joke after JOKE after JOKE,it was great! I remember one of her shows where she had a date with a man that was a bodybuilder on stage, wow! she made him cry but you had to be there to see it, it was funny as hell!. I remember another comedian that wrote his own material,"MANN WELL" was his name seven feet tall and about three hundred pounds with the American flag tattooed on his tongue with a voice like thunder,I enjoyed his act so much because I am a true believer of freedom of speech.Mann well act was full of energy and based on a raging madd man and basically if you are a five year old and when there's a giant man in front of you kicking ,screaming and yelling just because the sun is shining, you pay attention, I miss those days, crazy innocent.if you going to write your own material you can't rush it,it will take time to develop,I remember when,I didn't know how to write, meaning,my own material,I would get depressed but now it's like my mind is an amusement park and the spirits are whispering in my ear so I run and get a pen and paper or pick up my phone to record the thoughts and ideas or jokes.another thing when an idea pop into your mind you better write it down because when it's gone it's gone.writing your own material is your baby and it's yours so treat your material like a treasure and not like trash.it may be a song, a joke, or what ever but it's your creation.sometimes it will take months to develop the writing of completion but first all you need is the start.when writing a joke, you need a setup and the rest is all FUN! let's briefly talk about the "SETUP" I study the writing of the television show "I DREAM OF JEANNIE" at the beginning of every show there is a "SETUP" OR for easy terms "SITUATION" then the comedy begin...serious situation the characters get into and comedy trying to get out of the situation, this is great comedy writing because comedy is tragedy in reverse. I suggest you study "I DREAM OF JEANNIE" also "TWO BROKE GIRLS" I also would like for you to lock yourself into a room for one day and just watch "THE THREE STOOGES" AND SOME W.C.FIELD, ALSO BENNY HILL theses comedy are probably offensive today in the world we live in but after you study those mentioned tittles you will have a since of humor, and you will be clear on why benny hill and w.c.fields are funny and how to start a setup with random jokes.so you see I DREAM OF JEANNIE is the study of setup and situation, two broke girls is the study of jokes and punchlines.one day famous comedians will be hiring you to put words in their mouth,do you know why?....read the tittle of this blog, yeah!
