COUNTING LOSSES

DO you know what sweating cold sweat feels like? I would like to share some show business memories I had running my own production company.I tittle this blog "COUNTING LOSSES" but counting losses is nothing like counting sheep.show business is like any other business where investments are made in hope of a profit,in my opinion show business is some what like a casino business or playing the horses.let's take a walk down my memory on counting losses,maybe you will learn something from it.

"A SPECIAL EVENT CANCELLED"
I went half on the money in renting a concert hall or you might call it a small night club the person I co partner with was a dancer.this event was going to be for family audiences in the neighborhood.the club owner said that he wanted to partner in with the event by providing the concert hall audio sound system,my production company has it's own Dj sound system,the club owner really wanting to being part of the event,he also said he would work the ticket booth at the front door to monitor crowd control.the dancer did not agree with having a third wheel in the business deal,the dancer,the club owner and I had a long talk at the club,the dancer plans were to work the ticket booth until the visitors has all arrived and then close the ticket booth,my argument at the talk was basically the club owner has got his rental fee for the club and was just needed for opening and closing the club.we had thirty days to prepare for the event date at this location but in half of that time the dancer was frustrated at the dealing of a third wheel, my feelings were that the third wheel said he would bring in a bigger crowd for our event, so I was also banking on that.the dancer dropped out of the deal but the club owner really wanting that the event should go forward,I felt that the dancer was hurt emotionally and I had to honor those feelings.the dancer received the half of the down payment back for the club rental out of my own pocket and I did not asked the club owner for the deposit back,basically it's called stopping production or shutting down production,I just move on to other shows,we didn't call the club owner back or ever seen him again,we just walked away and counted our losses.
