MIMIC

ON the study of mimicry in high school it helped me a lot when rehearsing with sammy.mimicry is mostly a art form used by early musical theater,to mimic is to imitate or copy what a person say or do.a parrot mimic a human's voice or words.I also study the art of pantomime,which is some what like the art of mimicry. The mime clown that perform with out speech is based on the art of pantomime.in my rehearsal of mimicry I would sit in front of the television with sammy,the television sound would be completely down,I would have sammy do movement of the person on television screen,for an example,if a person on the television screen shake her head yes,I would have sammy copy her movement,if a person on screen was laughing,sammy would copy the movement.after a few minutes of television mimicry,I would write a skit using all the movements that I mimic from the television.just for practice,I would practice the skit on video,to watch it over and over and practice mimicry over and over until I had the illusion of life created of sammy.being a ventriloquist you are also an Illusionist not a magician but uses the skills of the illusionist.when Sammy talk or sing,every word should appear to be coming out of his mouth.it's easy to watch people speaking from a cross the room by reading their lips in your study of lip reading,another way is playing a song and moving your ventriloquist partner mouth to words being song,studying lip reading is important to create the illusion of life of the ventriloquist figure.
