In a comedy club you never know who's sitting in the audiences,such as talent scouts,fans ,producers,writers,talent agent,promoters.one night at a famous comedy club that I was a regular at,I was walking off stage with sammy,a famous comedy club promoter was sitting in the audience,he was a very sharp dressed man, I remember the suit.The famous comedy club promoter shook Sammy hand,he was laughing with joy at sammy while introducing himself to sammy.The comedy club promoter mentioned that his comedy club is jumping,he mentioned the name of the club,I knew of the comedy club,very famous in los Angeles urban area,this famous comedy club I never performed at but has visit a few times.The famous comedy club promoter told me,that he been watching my shows here and told me to come over to his comedy club on such and such night,he said that night his comedy club is having a special event night and "it's gonna be off the chain!"meaning very busy.he said he would put my name on the guest list.during my comedy club performing years,I was juggling a lot of things,such as personal,such as private life and show business.unfortunately I could not make it to the special event night,it would have thrown a monkey wrench in my schedule,meaning,a interfering in my time.I really really really wanted to go to that comedy club special event night and perform as a special guest,but I still remember as I write this,it would not have been a good performance from me and sammy for the audience that night,I was not prepared,it's a new stage and before any performer get on a stage,they should get to know it,like a new car or even a horse.so one night I was coming off the stage with sammy at the regular comedy club I performed at and the famous comedy club promoter was there.he said he was looking for me to show up as a special guest that special event night,he was talking about how busy it was,I told him that people and other comedians told me about how busy that night was at his comedy club and I truly dread missing that night,he told me he's a fan of vann duke and sammy,he said he come to this club often and said that night as a special guest would have taken my comedy career to a whole new level,he also said special events are not every day they are big big shows and productions,he put his business card in sammy pocket and told me anytime I need some stage time to call.I kick myself now,other comedians was talking about that special event night for along time,some of them was on the guest list also,for some it was once in a lifetime opportunity and for someone else it's "pencil me in".

hanging with the right crowd in show business can lead you into a direction and hanging out with the wrong crowd can lead you into a direction,either direction your show business career is moving forward and momentum is a good thing for any business.I was a teenage ventriloquist that open the shows for a band of musicians,a warm up act and the hype man, Sammy and I was the band intro and talkie talk.
if you are a young ventriloquist that has a older brother or sister that is a dancer or singer,you should ask if you can be part of the dance or song, simply by being the one to introduce them to the audience,simple,you and your wonderful ventriloquist figure walk on stage with your big brother or sister and say something like hello ladies and gentlemen I am so and so, please give a warm welcome for disco bunny!! you and your ventriloquist figure exit the stage so your big brother or sister can perform..when I was in middle school my little brother was a poplocker and break-dancer sammy and I would ride my little brother coattails to all his dance shows and even his dance battles,what are dance battles? dance battles were back in the day underground dance contests and all the top hood and ghetto dancers would meet at a abandoned warehouse for huge cash prizes,theses underground dance contests were done by music DJ and promoters. teens came from all over the big city to see who would be the next ghetto super star, oh! how we all loved to watch my little brother poplock and break-dance, just,amazing!!!.....so if you have a friend that is a actor,etc.,ask, always ask first  if you can coattail before you jump on the artist or artists coattails because some artist don't want to share the spot light or stage time..and always remember when coattailing, you are a tag along and that it's not your show, even if the artist or artists say you are part of the show, when you're coattailing you are hoping someday to jump off and run on your own.
