STAGE FRIGHT

(VANN DUKE AND SAMMY AUTOBIOGRAPHY) "STAGE FRIGHT"
I was nervous on stage sometimes because of my negative thinking.sometimes a hour before my show or a day before my show I may have a argument with my spouse,I may have car trouble on the way to the show.I remember my first show,a family member that gave me transportation to my show slammed my first sammy on the hood of the car, sammy was not damaged by the slamming,so I had a good show.I practice a lot with sammy because sometimes stage fright can make you for get your lines.another thing to remember about being nervous on stage is that those people out in the audience came to see you do a show, they want entertainment.I remember when I was doing the comedy clubs, before going on stage I would drink redbull and coffee shots because I wanted to be running on all cylinders,I wanted my mind and body to be sharp.staying away or hiding until it's time for you to go on stage is good also,it help you concentrate with out any distractions.it's natural to be nervous on stage, when I first started as a ventriloquist sometimes I was so nervous sammy head would be shaking from my hand but being a ventriloquist I could get it under control by working the stage fright into my act.

_____(TIPS TO HELP WITH STAGE FRIGHT)_____
here are some tips I used myself performing live on stage to help me with stage fright...

1. sammy and I wore dark sunglasses, making them part of our clothing out....
*********
2. Invite a friend or family member to sit in front row seat so you can perform for them only, meaning your attention will be on your friend and family and not the audience of strangers...
**********
3. have a small amount of beer or wine before going on stage, just a little.

GRAPE KOOL AID AND GUMBO

my uncle was very successful and his wife was successful, his children graduated from college,my aunt was successful and my mother was successful, they are all products of the 1930s.through racism, segregation these three children managed to live the American dream on their own.I can't tell their stories because it belongs to them,I can tell you about my part of their story,my uncle,my aunt, and my mother leave the south  country side to go to California, these three stuck together through thick and thin,my mother would always talk to me about her big sister as in venting about her big sister selfways and surely I listened as my mother bickering about my favorite aunt in the whole world! with a guilty smile I nod in agreement with my mother. it's seems to me the story of these three was a sworn oath to never part because where ever the big brother move to the two little sisters followed.I looked up to my mother,my uncle and my aunt,I wanted to grow up to be successful like them. JUST ADD WATER

I Have a mischievous smile on my face as I write this note to the reader.you may wonder how can being a ventriloquist help you out side showbiz, some of us don't want to be a performer, well just imagine running into your bosses office with your phone in your hand and a voice coming out of the phone saying " help! I falling and I can't get up!" you tell your boss you're leaving work to go save grandma!,now you have a good excuse for leaving work early unless your boss says she's going with you to help grandma,of course the voice that is coming from the phone is you doing the "ventriloquist telephone act" but you can always hang up the phone and do your ventriloquist phone act calling grandma back to say she's o.k...I remember as a teenager doing my ventriloquist telephone act for the first time at the dinner table with my family sitting eating,my lil brother knew about the act but my mother and older brothers really believe the voice was coming out...
